Overuse Syndrome of the Upper Extremity

STIFFNESS, WEAKNESS, NUMBNESS. Pain in the arm, forearm, and hand. If you use a keyboard, or do any consistent, repetitive motion at work, you are at risk for overuse syndrome. Therapy and ergonomic modifications can help, but prevention is the key to long-term treatment.

Repetitive motion disorders account for more than half of illnesses in the workplace. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health at the Centers for Disease Control estimate 15 to 20 percent of workers are at risk to develop these kinds of trauma disorders.
